Last post of 2018! (Post #8)

Welcome to my last post of 2018! In this game my opponent blundered heavily, and I quickly took advantage of that, and ended the game with a nice bishop mate. Thanks for checking this post out! See you all in the New Year!

Tactical Snippet #5

After reaching 1450, I dropped back under the threshold by losing a game, but in this game my opponent made a blunder, allowing me to win this game and get back to 1450. Can you find the move I played to win?   Good job finding it! It was a pretty nice in-between move, helped by the fact that my opponent didn’t move their king the right way, allowing me to be up even more! Now I’m back to 1450, and I hope to keep climbing!

Tactical Snippet #4

Here’s a snippet from the game I played to get to 1449, 1 win away from 1450! I was up a knight already, but this combination allowed me to get a rook for my knight and eventually win the game.   Good job finding it! After winning the rook, I sacked my c2 pawn, and due to that, I took a second to think. After that, I had only 3 seconds left to win the game! I premoved every move, and in the end I won the game :D.

Reaching 1450 (Post #7)

Thanks for joining me! Today I have the game I played to reach 1450! I’ve really climbed a lot recently in terms of rating, and I’m pretty happy with my progress.   Coming out of the opening, I was really happy with my position, and the blunders by my opponent let me end the game early with a nice mate. At this rate, I might be able to reach 1500 soon :D. I also applied for the US Chess group on chess.com, and hopefully I get approved soon so I can start playing in the USCF Online rated tournaments, against much stronger opponents. Once that starts happening, I’ll make sure to share my games here.

Tactical Snippet #3

Here's a snippet from the second blog post that I posted today. Can you find the game winning combination that I played?   That’s right! The combination was absolutely brutal, leaving my opponent down a queen with no compensation.

Best Game so Far (Post #6)

Once again, I didn’t post yesterday so here’s a second post today to make up for it. The game I’m sharing this time is a game I played today that I’m quite proud of, as my opponent mounted an attack, but I was able to defend well and win the game with a crushing tactic.   Overall, this was a great game! I think it’s the one I’m most proud of so far out of all the games I’ve shared.

Blitz Game With a Friend (Post #5)

Thanks for checking in! Sorry for posting this a day late, I was busy yesterday and forgot about posting :(. This is a game I played against another friend of mine today.   As you can see, I was doing a pretty good job of applying aggression, but a couple of blunders ended the game early for me.

Rapid Game with my Friend (Post #4)

Welcome back! Today I’ll be showing a game that I played yesterday with a friend of mine. I missed some nice chances to win, and in the end was low on time and drew the game. As you can see, that was a pretty intense game. I think that I need to spend more time in the critical moments and take less time to play the opening. Additionally, my friend should probably think more when he’s up on time :P.

Tactical Snippet #2

Welcome back! Here’s another quick snippet from one of my daily games. I missed the combination, but can you find it? Also sorry for the weird piece theme, I think that I accidentally messed up some settings That’s right! I can’t believe I missed the mate there! I still ended up winning in a couple extra moves though so it’s alright I guess.

New high of 1418 :D (Post #3)

Welcome back! Today I’ll be sharing a game where my opponent got great attacking chances and almost conducted a successful attack, but in the end, a couple of subpar moves allowed me to get back into the game and defend,. From this game, I’ve learned that I need to really watch for pins, and once again, end my habit of giving checks without considering if they are good or not. Also, I’m now at my new all time high of 1418!

Tactical Snippet #1

Hi everyone! I’m going to start to supplement my normal posts with small tactical snippets that I come across in my games. With that said, let's check out this first one.   As you can see, Black ends up a rook up, at the cost of only a pawn! I played this game yesterday and fortunately, my opponent disconnected just at this moment. I ended up winning the game due to them being inactive.

Thanks for coming and checking out my blog! I'm a relatively weak chess player who aspires to get better and share my progress with the world. I also have a passion for cats, and will probably share pictures of my cats every once in a while. I'm currently going to make it my goal to create a post every day, and eventually, I may dive into YouTube and Twitch. One thing that I will try to do is to analyze games myself, and not use an engine unless I really need help. In the case that I do resort to using an engine, I'll note it down that I used an engine. Blitz Game #2 (Post #2)

Hi everyone! Merry Christmas! Today I’ll be sharing a blitz game from a couple of days ago that involves crazy blunders by both me and my opponent, with me managing to pull ahead in the end.   Thanks for checking in! From this game I’ve learned that I need to think and avoid just giving random checks, a lesson that I feel like a lot of less experienced players, myself included, need to learn.

The Game Where I Reached 1400 (Post #1)

Hi! Welcome to my first blog post :). Today I’ll be going over the blitz game on chess.com where I reached 1400 for the first time! (Link to the chess game: https://www.chess.com/live/game/3316144497)   Overall, I definitely didn’t play perfectly, but in the end what matters is that I won and reached 1400 :D. As of when I’m writing this, I’ve dropped back to the 1300s, but I intend on getting back up there soon!
